Building Warwick Castle

We spent the day making our own Warwick Castle from cardboard boxes - it was hard work working out how to make the towers and ramparts but we all worked together and it looked pretty good when we had finished. We had great fun playing with some knights that Mrs Stanton gave us.

Trip to Warwick Castle

Year 2 went to Warwick Castle as part of their topic on castles - it was a great day and we explored all over the castle and grounds.

We were told a story by a lovely fairy - all about Jack Frost wanting to make everything cold and sad. She told us to keep an eye out for him and if we saw him to laugh and smile and be happy so his grumpy magic wouldn't work.

We went up onto the ramparts and walked around the castle. There were 500 steps altogether - we thought it would be really hard climbing up dressed in armour!

The rooms in the castle were amazing - and there were people everywhere too!

We finally found Jack Frost in the Ice Garden! He tried to make us all cold and grumpy but we were all much too happy for him, as you can see!

Christmas Activity Afternoon

We invited parents and carers to help the children make some Christmas decorations during the Activity afternoon. The children very carefully cut out circles, made snowflakes and then glued them to old cd's - they looked wonderful.

Children in Need

For Children in Need day we brought in pennies and made lines round school. We started outside our class and we estimated how far we would get with our line - we thought we might get as far as Mrs Stantons but we just made it to the door.
The line went right down our corridor, past Year 1 and Reception, past the office and up the stairs into the Key Stage 2 corridor when it was finished - wow!

Portraits

The children have creating self portraits with wonderful backgrounds, inspired by the work of Van Gogh. They have spent a long time drawing their faces and making sure they look just right - the end results are wonderful.

Cathedral Trip

Today Year 2 visited Worcester Cathedral as part of their RE work - the sun shone and we had a great day looking around and finding out all about the cathderal. The children all had a great day and learned loads, thanks to Mrs Burns, Mrs Nash and Mrs Stedman for coming with us.

We saw some fantastic stained glass windows in the cathedral - they told lots of different stories like the creation of the world and Noah's Ark.

We walked around the cathedral really quietly like the monks did. We saw the golden lectern with the eagle, went down into the crypt, lit a candle and thought about friends and families and even pretended to baptise a baby in the font just like we did in school with Mrs Kay.

We sketched some of the patterns we saw around the cathderal, these floor tiles were lovely.

We made prayer stones, Sue showed us how to draw on the stones then the grown ups used silver and gold pens to decorate our drawings.
